Brighter Futures Animal Academy


Brighter Futures Animal Care Academy offers practical qualifications and the opportunity to work with a variety of animals. In addition, while you are developing your vocational skills, we will support you with work experience, CV writing and interview technique workshops to help you progress into further education or employment. We aim to prepare students to embark upon their journey into the world of animal care by giving them the knowledge, skills and training required to succeed in the industry.


We deliver a range of animal care qualifications that cover areas including Dog Grooming, Veterinary Care and Animal Care. We have included a short summary below of each qualification, if you would like more information, just click on the course title.


We are working with industry experts to help deliver our programmes. We have partnered with Lyn Barwise from Merseyside Career Development to provide you with the latest knowledge and skills you need to progress in the animal care sectors.



Our Qualifications...



Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants

This level is ideal if you want to begin working in the dog grooming industry and want to learn the skills you need to work under supervision in a dog grooming salon.


To earn this qualification, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units, including:

  • Bathing and cleaning dogs
  • Controlling and restraining animals
  • Handling payments from clients

Level 3 Certificate/Diploma for Dog Grooming Stylists

This level is ideal if you've worked in the dog grooming industry for some time. You may have plenty of experience, and you want to develop your skills further, perhaps to move into a management role.


To earn this qualification, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units, including:

  • Assessing and planning dog grooming work
  • Health checking a dog by a dog groomer
  • Welcoming, receiving and caring for visitors to sites.

Level 2 Extended Certificate in Animal Care

This qualification is aimed at you if you want to work in the animal care industry. Caring for animals is hugely rewarding, and this qualification could start you off on your career.


This qualification contains a very wide range of optional subjects in areas that could include:

  • Animal health and welfare
  • Introduction to animal behaviour and handling
  • Introduction to grooming dogs
  • Practical animal feeding

Brighter Futures is working with industry experts to help deliver our programmes. Lyn from MCDT has over 22 years experience in teaching working with 14 -18 year old's and adults. Lyn is also a fully qualified dog groomer to City & Guilds Diploma standard, having worked with all breeds of dogs over the years. By working with industry experts like Lyn, Brighter Futures is able to provide you with the latest knowledge and skills you need to progress in the animal care sector.
