Further & Higher Education

At Brighter Futures, we understand that students may not wish to directly enter employment after completing their education with us, with progression into other Further Education or Higher Education courses a desired route for many students. The skills and experience that students can develop by progressing onto higher level programmes often enhance the employment options available and provide students with a greater opportunity to move into the jobs and industries they are looking to work in.

For students wishing to look at the Apprenticeship route, where they can combine further studies with earning a wage, the National Apprenticeship Service website is an excellent tool to find apprenticeships available within your local area, or within the industry you are considering;

If you are interested in progressing into an Apprenticeship but are unsure of the sector area that would best suit you, the Occupational Maps page of the IFATE website provides an interactive graphic detailing options within all relevant areas and across levels. This graphic provides considerable extra detail for those looking to progress within technical education;

For those within the Liverpool City Region, the Be More website provides a comprehensive list of skills and career opportunities within the Liverpool City Region, which can be broken down by sector area or region too;

Higher Education

University or Higher Education progression is a very popular route for students completing their Level 3 Study Programmes with Brighter Futures and is something we are aspirational about for our students. Progression data for Brighter Futures shows that University is a realistic and valuable goal for students who complete their vocational programmes to a good standard.

The options for students to progress into University or Higher Education more generally are regularly covered during a student’s Study Programme with Brighter Futures via their dedicated Work Experience, Career Development and Enrichment curriculum

As part of this curriculum, students are introduced to Unifrog, which offers an extensive library of resources for students to research universities or degrees which may interest them. Alongside this, students can also use Unifrog to help with creating a Personal Statement for university applications, as well as being able to collate a list of applications they have submitted to date.

The links for all of these features are below (you must ensure you are logged into your Brighter Futures Unifrog account to access these links);

Once you are approaching the end of your Study Programme with Brighter Futures, for students wishing to move into Higher Education, UCAS will be a key tool for you to access in order to submit applications. The Work Experience, Career Development and Enrichment curriculum extensively covers UCAS, applications and entry requirements for University, whilst tutors at your Brighter Futures Campus will support your application via references. Please ask your tutor for the Brighter Futures UCAS buzzword in order to link your application to our company UCAS account.
