Trainees look for take-off with Liverpool John Lennon Airport scheme

Trainees

A second traineeship programme at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) by training group Sysco provided eight South Liverpool youngsters with the opportunity to work in the aviation sector.
The programme, run in conjunction with South Liverpool Housing, follows an inaugural scheme which provided full-time work or training for 10 teenagers.
Montel White achieved full time employment as a security officer with Securitas and the nine other trainees from this programme are also now all in full time employment or training.
Three of the eight trainees in the latest scheme are currently being considered for apprenticeships, while one, Jay Verburg, has been given a role in the control tower after expressing an interest and impressing LJLA chief executive Andrew Cornish.
A comprehensive after-care service is provided to the remaining trainees to help them into apprenticeships or full time employment and We have scheduled a new programme for the start of the New Year. We are looking forward to helping more South Liverpool-based teenagers by providing them with the opportunity to gain an apprenticeship with the airport or with one of our bank of employers.
